PALS Named an Official Charity Partner of the 2021 TCS New York City Marathon

Farmingdale, New York, June 14, 2021—PALS (Patient AirLift Services) was named an Official Charity Partner for the 2021 TCS New York City Marathon, taking place on November 7. This year serves as the 50th celebratory running of the marathon.  PALS  will be among the more than 400 official charity partners providing thousands of runners the opportunity to run in the world’s most popular marathon.

For the 6th year in a row, PALS has been selected as an official charity partner for the 2021 TCS New York City Marathon and we are eager to cheer on team as the course through the five boroughs of New York City this November. We are excited to have recurring PALS’ marathon runners, a few of our very own volunteer pilots, and some first time marathon runners.  Together, they will set out to reach a fundraising goal of over $75,000 to impact families in need of free medical flights to get to the life-saving care or treatment they need.

“Like NYRR, we are inspiring those that are sick to never give up, and to put one foot in front of the other to keep moving forward! While not all of our patients may be able to run marathons, our services help them to lead the healthiest lives they can by accessing top doctors and specialized programs throughout the country. We are honored to be selected as an official charity partner for 2021, and proud to support our dedicated team of runners.”
Donna Collins
PALS' Executive Director

“Supporting charitable causes and organizations are a long-standing tradition of the TCS New York City Marathon as it serves as one of the world’s largest fundraising platforms,” said Christine Burke, Senior VP of Strategic Partnerships, NYRR.  “The marathon exemplifies the running community’s spirit of giving back, and no group demonstrates that more than the thousands who choose to run for charity. We are proud to support the efforts of the PALS team and the positive impact they have made to their community.”

The NYRR Official Charity Partner Program offers an opportunity for nonprofit organizations to raise funds to support their missions and services. Participating charities can offer guaranteed entry to runners who fundraise on their behalf.

Since its inception in 2006, the TCS New York City Marathon Official Charity Partner Program has raised more than $350 million for more than 1,000 worthy nonprofit organizations across the globe. Prior to the start of the official program, the New York City Marathon had served as an outlet for individual philanthropic runners since the 1980s.

The 2021 TCS New York City Marathon will commemorate the race’s 50th running with runners from all over the world participating in-person and virtually. The marathon began in 1970 and has become one of the most anticipated annual mass sporting events in New York City. This year’s marathon will once again bring together people of all ages and abilities reflecting the resilience and strength of the running community.

Established in 2010, Patient AirLift Services (PALS) arranges free flights for individuals requiring medical treatment who cannot afford or are unable to fly commercially; compassionate assistance for family members traveling in support of patients; veterans in need of travel for rehabilitation or recovery; and for humanitarian efforts. With service throughout the eastern United States and headquartered at Republic Airport in Farmingdale, New York, PALS alleviates the economic barrier of transportation for individuals in need. To date, PALS has arranged more than 24,000 flights for seriously ill children and adults, veterans, and disaster victims.
